Garage door services in Cincinnati, Ohio were called in to a fire department for a unique job: installing bullet-resistant doors and glass. Why? After an incident in which two bullets hit the station – one pierced a garage door window and the other lodged in a window – the fire chief agreed to add the special doors at a cost of $8,000. While fire fighters routinely put their lives on the line, bullet wounds are usually not par for the course. Located in a high-crime district, the station wasn’t a target but rather was damaged by a stray bullet. Despite this, the firefighters fear it could happen again and are taking precautions by installing the new garage doors in the Cincinnati station which they say are a necessity, not a luxury.
