Garage doors services in the Fremont, California region are being contacted to replace the High Intensity Discharge (HID) lighting used in parking garage’s entrances and throughout the levels with LED lights. Officials say the move will save over one million dollars over the next 11 years, and was funded by a grant by the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block. The new lights will give off cool, white light and use far less electricity than the presently-used HID lights. Additionally, they require little maintenance and have an estimated 11-year life span; and unlike HID lights, they contain no mercury. What makes the new project even more cost-efficient and unique is that in the Fremont garage doors there will be motion sensors which will lower the lighting level when no movement is detected, saving even more energy and money.
